Promises of God: Part 6

October 14, 20254 min read

In this sermon, Pastor Rotola teaches about the biblical promises related to heaven, Lucifer’s fall, the new creation, and eternal life. The message walks through Scripture from Ezekiel, Isaiah, Revelation, and 2 Peter to explain how heaven and earth as we know them will be destroyed and replaced by a new heaven and new earth — a place of absolute righteousness and purity, free from all past sin: “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:5)

The sermon is both a panoramic theological overview and a personal call to salvation. It emphasizes the purity of the new creation, the authority of Scripture, and the urgency of accepting Christ now, before it’s too late.

Sermon Highlights

Lucifer’s Fall and the First Rebellion

The sermon begins with a teaching from Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14, identifying the “King of Tyre” as a description of Lucifer, a once-perfect cherub in Eden.

Lucifer’s beauty and pride led to his downfall. He corrupted other angels and started the first church split in heaven. Revelation 12 describes the war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought Lucifer (the dragon) and his followers, who were cast to the earth.

  • “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty … so I threw you to the earth.” (Ezekiel 28:17)

  • “The great dragon was hurled down — that ancient serpent, called the devil, or Satan.” (Revelation 12:9)

Why the Heavens Will Be Destroyed

2 Peter 3 and Isaiah 65 reveal that not just the earth but all three heavens (atmosphere, stars/space, and the realm of God) will be destroyed.

Even the highest heaven was once defiled by rebellion, and God wants eternity to be completely pure. A new heaven and a new earth will be created — where “the former things will not be remembered.”

  • “The present heavens and earth are reserved for fire.” (2 Peter 3:7)

  • “I will create new heavens and a new earth.” (Isaiah 65:17)

The New Jerusalem: Heaven on Earth

In Revelation 21-22, John sees the New Jerusalem — a massive, radiant city coming down from heaven, prepared like a bride.

It will be the eternal dwelling place of God and His people — no pain, no death, no sorrow. The city is made of gold and precious stones, illuminated by the glory of God — no sun or moon needed.

  • “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people.” (Revelation 21:3)

  • “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.” (Revelation 21:4)

  • “The city does not need the sun … for the glory of God gives it light.” (Revelation 21:23)

Salvation, Purity, and Eternal Reign

Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will enter this perfect city. The blood of Jesus completely wipes away every trace of sin — “not even one tinge of a remembrance,” the pastor remarks. Believers will reign forever and ever, knowing God face-to-face.

  • “You will know as you are known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

  • “They will reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 22:5)

A Final Call to Salvation

The sermon ends with an invitation: Choose heaven. There are only two destinations — the New Jerusalem or the lake of fire. Church membership, baptism, and good deeds won’t save you. Only giving your life to Christ and accepting His grace will.

Pastor Rotola explains, “The moment you’re saved … your sins are white as snow. [...]
Only the Savior can save you and cleanse you from all your sins.”

The Closing Words of Jesus

The pastor closes his sermon with two Revelation verses:

  • “Yes, I am coming soon.” (Revelation 22:20)

  • “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.” (Revelation 22:21)
